The RE-EMPOWERED project was presented by the European Coordinator Nikos Hatziargyriou in the 12th EU-India Smart Grid Workshop in New Delhi, on 2 March 2023.
Europe has implemented several successful projects at scale for grid integration of renewable energy sources (RES) in different EU member states in the recent past; and many of these projects are relevant in the Indian context. This initiative was established under the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership (CECP) to support knowledge transfer between the two continents, faster replication and roll out of smart grids in India.
This edition of the EU-India workshop presented some of the selected successful smart grid projects executed in Europe under the BRIDGE program and the policy and regulatory interventions needed to bring in the new technologies and actors. In a session dedicated to joint EU – India Smart Grid Demonstration Projects, results from the E-LAND and IElectrix Projects, the Role of Local Energy Systems (SUSTENANCE Project) and Combing Energy Vectors (RE-EMPOWERED Project) under the BRIDGE platform were discussed, experiences exchanged, and key achievements highlighted.
