RE-EMPOWERED participated in the 15th DERlab Knowledge day, organized in cooperation with the EU project eNEURON, on the topic of integrated local (multi-carrier) energy communities: concepts, projects, recommendations, and key aspects for implementation. During the workshop, an overview of energy communities, local energy markets and their importance in democratization of energy sector was outlined by Alexandros Chronis (ICCS-NTUA). The presentation was followed by a brief overview of the novel technological solutions that are developed in the framework of RE-EMPOWERED project and will be tested in our four pilot sites, given by Panos Kotsampopoulos (ICCS-NTUA). Emphasis was given on increasing flexibility to these networks and further promoting citizen engagement through the participation in demand side management schemes.
